Tronxy P802 Bed Carraige Upgrade

Description

This Is A Simple Thing That I Changed On My Tronxy P802E That Made A Big Improvement On Getting A Consistent Bed Level From Print To Print. I Replaced The Horrible Acrylic Bed Undercarriage With A Solid Homemade Aluminum One. I Went With The Home-Made Route Because I Couldn'T Find Any Aluminum Bed Upgrades Online For My Printer That Looked Likely To Fit Without Heavy Modifications, Plus I Had Some Aluminum Just Setting Around. Before The Change I Would Have To Fully Re-Level The Bed Every Time I Printed At A Different Bed Temperature Because Of How The Acrylic Part Moved With Temperature Changes. Now After Changing To Aluminum, I Haven'T Had To Adjust Anything On The Bed When Going Between Pla At 60C To Petg At 80 Or Even When Printing Abs At 110. To Make It Out Of Aluminum, I Jb-Welded Two .090" (~2Mm) Aluminum Sheets Together To Make It ~.18" (4Mm) Thick. I Think A Single.125" (3Mm) Sheet Would Have Been More Efficient But .090 Is What I Had Laying Around And .090 By Itself Seemed A Bit Too Flimsy. Once The Epoxy Had Set Up Overnight I Used The Acrylic Part As A Jig To Mark The Holes And Perimeters. (I Also Switched From 3 Bearing Mounts To 4 At The Same Time. ) I Drilled Out The Holes, Cut The Perimeter To A Sort Of Fat X Shape With A Jigsaw And Then Sanded Every Surface To Clean It Up. The Rear Left Bushing Holder Comes Pretty Close By The Y Motor, But Still Clears Just Fine. In Addition To Helping Making The Bed Level Much More Consistent, It Also Allowed Me To Transition From Bearings To Plastic Bushings On My Bed. As You May Know, Bushings Need To Be Really Well Aligned To Avoid Binding And Sticking. Before With The Acrylic Part , I Would Get Everything Sliding Smoothly And Then I Would Level The Bed And They Would Bind Terribly Due The Carriage Twisting And Warping. The Aluminum Carriage I Made Is Very Stable And Combined With My Single Cable Tie Bushing Holder ( Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2538105 ) Made My Next Attempt To Bushings Work Out Well And Now My Prints Are Smoother Than Ever. The Carriage Is About 30% Heavier Than The Acrylic Due To My Choice Of Overly Thick Material, But I Think I Still Came Out Ahead On Weight Considering My Ditching Of The Aluminum Bearing Blocks.
