Nissan Leaf universal phone holder

Nissan Leaf universal phone holder

Description

*Update 30 April 2019*: Please *Do Not* Print The Body With Moveable Arms As They'Re Only Suitable For Very Light Phones And Will Eventually Fail Over Time Anyways. As I Went For A Newer Leaf 2.0 I'M Not Doing Any Further Improvements To Solve This Issue, But I'Ve Uploaded A Custom Cage Originally Made For My Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 That Works Great And Can Be Easily Fitted To A Different Model Using Any Stl Editing Application And Then Inserted Into The Base Clip. This Thing Is An Original Car Phone Holder Specifically Designed For The Nissan Leaf (Up To 2017 Model, I Believe - Although Mine Is 2014). It Is A Branch Of A Previous Project From About 2 Years Ago That Would Fit My Nexus 6 Only And Was Never Published But, Despite Being Printed With Pla And Having To Stand 40+ Degrees Celsius During The Summer, Worked Perfectly Since Then. Since I Recently Bought A New Phone It Wasn'T Good Anymore For Me, So I Decided To Go For A More Adjustable Design. It Is A Modular Concept Made Of 4 Parts, So That It Can Easily Be Adapted To Different Phone Models (Either By Just Sliding The Arms Or By Modifiyng Their Design) Or Even Cars (Although You Will Have To Design Your Own Car Clip Part For That). The Source Project Is At Https://Cad.Onshape.Com/Documents/9F5C360D6F7F580F74Eaf987/W/0A8F2910Bb7E10F9499F8Ac0/E/9A6Be3419E4396Ef08D18Ec3 So Please Feel Free To Improve It As Much As You Like. How I Print This: - Material: Pla. Haven'T Tried Abs Or Petg Yet But I Suppose It Would Make For A Much Better Finish, Especially If You Smooth Abs With Acetone. - No Need For Support When Printing, But I Suggest To Use Some Skirt, Specially For The Body Part. - Any Layer Height Should Do, As The Tolerances Are Not Excessively Tight. - Print The Arm Stl Twice. As They Are Simmetrical, You Only Need To Turn One Of Them Upside Down As Shown In Pics. - Use Duct Tape On The Clip Inside Part To Avoid Scratches To The Car (As Show In Pics). - Use Layers Of Duct Tape On Arms As Shown In Pics Untill You Find The Optimal Grip (Arms Should Slide With Some Force But Not Be Stuck). After Printing, Test The Arms Having Them Slide Into The Main Body Slits, And Apply Layers Of Duct Tape (Or Glue If Your'E Bold And Don'T Plan To Use More Than One Phone) To Find The Right Amount Of Resistance That Will Keep Your Phone Firm Enough While Allowing Adjustments To Accomodate Other Mobiles. Once You'Ve Done That, Snap The Clip Part Onto The Leaf'S Left Air Vent Above The Screen, Possibly Applying Some Duct Tape In Order To Avoid Scratches To The Car'S Plastic, And Slide The Main Body Vertically In It'S Hole. It Should Fit Nicely Without Further Adjustments. A Word Of Caution (Or Two): - I Never Re-Print The Car Clip Part After Re-Designing It With Onshape. Although I Believe It'S Identical To The Original, I Never Actually Tried. - Please Verify That Your Phone Sits Steadily In The Support Before Accelerating The Car, Or It May Fall (Happened To Me On A Previous Version) And Eventually Break. You Have Been Warned.
