Hi Internet Sim Racers! Christmas Is Here, I'D Managed To Escape The Kids For An Hour And Whipped Up Something I'D Wanted To Do For ... Well, Since Last Christmas.... Led Mini Torches Are Perfect For Conversion To A Smart Looking Shift Light For Your Dirty Sim Racing Habit!! I Got Mine From Officeworks In Australia For $2.99Aud... Conveniently, The Internal Profile Is Large Enough To Fit A Arduino Pro Micro (My Favorite!). So I Decided To Use A Small Pipe And Hammer To Punch Out From The Inside The Original Led Array. There Is An Aluminium Step Its Pressed Into See... So Pull The Battery Out, Push Something Solid In, And Whack It With A Hammer. It Should Pop Right Out! Now, My Models Are Designed To Fit Directly Into The Empty Barrel. The Lense Is ~23.5Mm Which Depending On Your Printer Accuracy Is Close Enough To Wedge In Nicely. The Main Body Will Push Into The Bottom Of The Lense With A Little Super Glue To Keep It In Place With The Lense. I Hot Glued My Rgb Wb2812B Led On The Top Of The Main Barrel. It Works, Its Simple... And Despite The Original Version Being Much More Elaborate. This Just Prints Easier And You Need To Glue The Led Anyway. So... Y'Know... The Base Lock Is Optional. I Found The Arduino Didn'T Slide Around At All. Oh And The Switch In The Bottom Cover Of The Torch Should Just Push Through From The Rubber End And Pop Out The Inside. It'S A Press Fit Too. Just Put A Slot In The Rubber Button Cover And Push Your Usb Micro Lead Through It And Screw It On To Finish It Up. The Blue One I Made Was A Really Old Torch And Perfect For A Test. My Printer Also Had A Blocked Nozzle For The Test Print But It All Fit Okay Together. I Have Little Reservation About The Model. Once I Clean The Nozzle Of The Printer It Should Be Smooth Again. Have A Go, The Results Are Pretty Neat. Oh, And If You Don'T Want To Print A Lense With Transparent Filament.... Get An Old Plastic Milk Bottle.. And Cut Out A Circle To Push In Over The Led. It'Ll Work Just As Well.
