Kraken Mk2 RC brushless hovercraft
Description
Hope You Will Enjoy This Sexy Little Hovercraft I Designed On My Surface Pro During Lunch Hours At Work : ) I Am Not An Engineer Or A Designer So Please, Feel Free To Modify At Will. I Plan To Test It On Wide Open Spaces When I Find Time But I Have A Feeling Based On My Very Limited Testing, That This Will Fly At Pretty Impressive Speeds... For This Build, You Will Need: - 3 Escs With 5V Bec Or 3 Escs Without Bec With A Pdb That Can Provide A 5V Source To Power Up Your Receiver, I Am Using 3 Old Turnigy Plush 30A Escs In Mine - 3 Brushless 2205 Motors (High Kv Motors Recommended), I Am Using Dys 2205/2750Kv Motors As Torque Is Not As Important As Rpm With The Impellers - Please Note That You May Need To Modify The Impeller Wheels To Fit Your Motors Height And Shaft - One 5" 3 Blade Quadcopter Propeller - 1 Lipo Pack, I Recommend A 1500Mah 4S Battery But 3S Is Just Fine - Radio And Receiver, I Am Using A Spektrum Dx9 Air Transmitter And Receiver But Any Surface Radio With 4 Channels Will Do As Well - At Least 30 M2 X 8Mm Self-Tapping Screws For The Skirt Retaining Rings - 6 M2 X 8Mm Button Head Screws For The Rudders - At Least 10 M3 X 12Mm Button Or Socket Head Screws For The Impeller Mounts And The Thrust Duct Assemblies - One 9Gm Servo, I M Using An Emax 9G Es08A Mini Servo. You Can Cut The Servo Hole To Fit Any Servo You Want - Tie Rod For The Rudders - Rip-Proof Nylon Fabric, Check For The Type With Waterproof Coating. You Will Need At Least One Meter Long And 15Cm Wide Make Sure You Have Some Silicon Wires To Extend Your Motor Wiring And Some Servo Wiring To Extend Your Servo And Esc Signal Wires. Also And You Will Need An Xt60 Connector To Hook Up Your Pdb Or Escs To Your Battery I Am Also Using An Rc Tire Truer To Drill Holes To Route Wiring Based On Available Lengths Of Your Electronics Wiring You Need A Soldering Iron + Rosin Soldering Wire I Have Placed My Receiver And Pdb In The Front Compartment And Made A Conduit That Leads To The Battery And Esc Compartment In The Back As Seen In One Of The Pictures, There Is Also Space On Both Sides Of The Battery Compartment To Tuck In Your Escs. There Are Many Ways To Get Both From Impellers To Be Synchronized, You Can Either Join Both Impeller Esc To Receive Signal From One Channel Or You Can Program A Mix To Get Both Escs To Perform In Any Specific Way You Desire... This Craft Will Ride On Any Terrain, Grass, Asphalt, Water, Snow... I Recommend Sealing Holes With Silicon Where You Will Route Wiring Underneath The Front Hull To Avoid Water Or Moisture To Creep Up In The Battery And Electronics Enclosures. I Also Put In A Small Desiccant Pouch In Both Compartments In Case Moisture Finds It'S Way In. ____________________________________________________ This Is An Evolution Of My Previous Design Found Here: Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2765766 And Inspired By Ivan Miranda'S Superb Hovercraft Project Found On Youtube Here Is A Clip Of A Short Run I Made From My Garage Door, Will Use It In Open Space This Weekend Https://Youtu.Be/B8Zcxcgk5Tm This Thing Was Made With Tinkercad.
