Sparkmaker Lead Screw / T-Nut for 8mm x 2mm pitch
Description
This Is A Drop-In Replacement For The Lead Screw On A Sparkmaker Sla 3D Printer. My Unit Had A Brass Nut And The Fit Was So Sloppy That It Jumped On The Screw Under Load. Not Good! I Designed This Nut As A Replacement. The Barrel Is Sized To Fit Snugly Into The Opening So That The Nut Is Also Stabilized By The Walls Of The Head Section And Provides The Full Thread Length Used In The Original Brass Nut. This Nut Was Printed In Htpla Version 3 From Protopasta In Solid Fill On A Flashforge Finder At High Resolution Using Their Flashprint Software. The Print Was Clean And Fit A Little Tight At First After The Heat Treatment Recommended By Protopasta. I Used A Tap To Clean The Thread And Then Synthetic Grease (Krytox Gpl226) To Smooth Things Out. The Result Is No Backlash And Prints Have Been Great Since. I'Ve Found Printing This On A Makerbot 5Th Gen With The Smartextruder+ That Scaling The X And Y Only To 97% Provides A Good Fit With No Backlash. Eventually I'M Going To Try Sla Versions Too. Depending On Your Setup, You May Have To Experiment A Bit To Get A Working Result. I Did Try This On A Service Bureau'S Hp Nylon Fusion Machine, But The Result Was A Bit Loose. This Might Also Work Using High Infill With Tpu Flexible Material, But I'Ve Not Tried That Yet. So Far I Have Not Seen Any Wear Issues, Though I Suspect This Will Not Last As Long As A Well-Fitted Brass Part. Still, One Can Just Print Another One As Needed! Enjoy!
