Golf 7 wagon roof rack adapter
Description
Built This Quick And Dirty Roof Adapter For The Special Rails On Our Family Car To Allow The Skibox To Sit As Low As Possible. After A Few Tries I Fastened It With A Metal Band Below (Simpson Strong-Tie\ Practilett-Lochband) When Using A Plastic Base It Would Eventually Crack Even If Printed Very Thick With High Infill %. This Construction Is Not A 100% Perfect Fit But Allows The Plastic To Expand During Temperature Changes. Tested Down To -23C With Pla However I Would Use Abs\Asa If Used In Summer.. You Will Need: Thule "Old Style" Square Bars (22Mm X 32Mm) Coverd With A Rubber Sleeve . 4X M5 45Mm Bolts 4X M5 Nuts\ Nylock Would Be Best, Wing-Nuts Can Be Used For Easier Install\Removal Some Strongtie\Practilett-Lochband I Used 17 X 0,9 Mm With A 7Mm Hole Diameter And Used 3 Loops And Cut It To Perfect Length I Covered My Metal Band With Heat-Shrink To Protect The Aluminum Roof Rail . You Can Drill The Holes Before Installing Bolts "Reccomended" (Optional) You Can Drill Trough The Thule Bar And Attach A M6X60Mm Bolt To Secure The Bar To The Mount . However Due To The Design With A Cutout In The Mount, It Is Self Locking.
