This Is A Large Spool Holder For The Anet A6. I Made This After I Bought A 3Kg Filament Spool And Realised I Had No Way Of Mounting It To My Printer. Rather Than Make A Free Standing Spool Holder And Filament Guide, I Decided To Make A Top Mounted Spool Holder Which Provides A Short, Unobstructed Path To The Extruder And Saves Space. The Anet A6 Frame Is Also Fairly Rigid And Can Easily Take The Weight Of The Spool Without Flexing; The Centre Of The Spool Is Aligned Vertically With The Acrylic Frame. I Designed The Holder With Thick Webs, Fillets And Using Good Print Orientation To Make It As Strong And Stable As Possible, Without Using Too Much Material. It Also Clips Around The Printer Frame To Hold It Securely In Place. The Gap For The Holder Can Vary By Sliding The Supports Inwards And Outwards. The Maximum Span Is 172Mm And The Minimum Can Depend On What Is On The Printer (My Installed Lcd Cover Limits It To 138Mm). The Spool Axle Will Need To Be As Long As This Span, Plus At Least 16Mm To Rest On The Spool Holder (8Mm On Either Side). The Axle Which Came With My A6 Is 156Mm Long Which Is Fine Although I Believe The A6 Is Now Shipping With Shorter 130Mm Axles. In Which Case You Will Need To Buy Or Make A Longer One. Ideally Bolts Should Be Used On Both Sides Of The Supports In Order To Keep The Axle In Position Although I Have Made Clips Which Clip To The Axle (Designed For 8Mm Wide Threaded Rod Although Can Be Scaled For Up To 10Mm Axles) And Hook Around The Supports For Quick Release Of The Spool Axle. It Can Hold Spools Up To 160Mm In Radius (The One Pictured Is 150Mm) Provided That The Axle Is Held Close To The Centre Of The Spool Using A Spool Adapter. Since This Will Use A Fair Amount Of Filament To Print I Have Included A Test File To Make Sure The Clip Section Of The Holder Fits Onto Your Frame Properly. You Will Want To Print One Of The Spool Holder Parts And Then Mirror The Second To Make It Symmetrical. No Supports Are Required To Print These Parts.
