Universal Planetary Gear Spool Holder
Description
I Was Looking For A Spool Holder To Replace The Cheap One That Came With My Printer. I Find The 3D Printed Planetary Gears Extremely Fascinating And Wanted A Spool Holder That Would Utilize These Gears While Still Being Able To Sit On Top Of My Lack Table Stand I Have My Printer On. I However Wasn'T Able To Find Exactly What I Was Looking For So I Set Out To Design My Own! You Will Need Some Additional Hardware To Put This Together, But Nothing Crazy. You Will Need 4 M3 Nuts, And 4 M3 Screws. You Could Use Anywhere From 10Mm To 15Mm Screws. These Hold The Cross Braces To The Spool Holder Sides, I Suppose You Could Also Just Glue Them There If You Wanted As Well. You Don'T Need The Gear Loosening Bit, But I Found It Handy To Get The Gears Rolling Smoothly Initially Using An Electric Drill, Not To Mention It Was A Lot Of Fun! The Loosening Bit Will Work With Any Drill That Will Grab Onto A 1/4" Bit. I Did Draw Inspiration From Another Creator On This Site, As Well As The Same Sized Planetary Gears In His Design. Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1816896 To Use This Design As I Have, You Will Need To Print 2 Spool Holder Sides, 2 Spool Holder Cross Braces, 2 Adjustment Cones, 2 Spool Gears, And One Axle. The Loosening Bit Is Optional, I Just Found It Handy To Get The Gears Running Smoother And Quicker Using An Electric Drill. If You Have Any Questions Or Ideas To Improve This Design, Let Me Know. Enjoy!
