Blow off tube to mason jar

Blow off tube to mason jar

Description

Two Lids Are In This Project, And The Barbs Are The Hosebarb_1010.Stl File From The Hose Barb Source. I Use 3/8" Id Silicon Tubing And Once I Print This, I Will Confirm It Was The Right Size. First Lid Has Two Hose Barbs On One Side...One Barb Is Connected To The Blowoff Tube Fed From Your Fermenter, And The Second Barb On This Lid Is Connected To The Second Lid That Has One Barb On Each Side. The Second Lid Goes On The Mason Jar That Has Sanitized Liquid In It, And Will Have A Short Piece Of Tubing That Connects To The Inner Barb Trimmed So That It Nearly Reaches The Bottom Of The Mason Jar. The Idea Here Is That During Fermentation The First Jar Will Fill With Co2 And Then Flow Into The Second Jar Where The Sanitized Liquid Is. When Fermentation Is Complete You Typically Will "Cold Crash" Your Finished Beer To Gain Some Clarity Before Racking To A Keg Or Bottles. During The Cold Crash However, There Can Be A Change In Pressure Within The Fermenter That Creates A Vacuum Effect And Sucks Up Some Of That Sanitizer Into The Blow Off Tube Which Then Makes Its Way Into Your Finished Beer. With This Setup, Any Suck Back Will Be Dumped Into The Jar That Is Connected Directly To The Fermenter And Won'T Make It Back Into Your Beer! Bonus, Any Gases That Are Sucked Back To The Fermenter Would Be Gases That Originated In The Fermenter Anyway, So There Is No Contamination. If You Are Unsure Of How This Should Be Setup, Search For "Krausen Catcher" To See A Similar Commercial Option.
