MagLev Damper / Magnet-Dämpfer

English This is a "quick and dirty" proof-of-concept I designed to test if the magentic repulsion of neodym magnets could be practically used as a dampener, for e.g. a 3D-Printer or other devices. Does it work? The answer is "yes, but..." This dampener uses 10 Neodym-Discs of 10x2 mm, a stack of 5 each in the upper and lower part (so roughly two 10x10mm neodym magnets for each dampener). With about ~1,6 kg of weight on the dampener the magnets touch each other, but the usable weight with room to dampen vibrations to spare, is about 1kg max. The maglev-damper works (though "maglev" is not completely correct here), but to levitate around 9 kg of an Ender 3 with a spool of filament and some dampening room to spare (so the magnets don't touch) you would have to use at least around 10 of this dampeners (5 on each side of the printer). And of course they are not completely friction- and vibration-free as the magnets have to work in a tube, and the walls of the upper and lower tube of course touch, so some vibration could be transmitted. Because of the Earnshaw-Theorem it is impossible to build a passive setup that levitates completely freely. The dampener could of course be optimized (other tollerances, maybe using filt as a dampener between the outer and inner tube as a vibration dampener) - I don't know if I will take this any further, but feel free to take this idea an remix / optimize it. In principle a "magnetic spring" / "magnetic dampener" is pretty cool... :-) I used PLA, 15% Gyroid infill, and 0.2 laxer height. No Support needed. The little washer in the thing-files is a safety-disc to be placed inside the lower tube on top of the magnets, so if the dampener is crushed down the brittle Magnets are not directly crashed into each other.

Deutsch Das ist eine ad hoc ersteller Prototyp den ich entworfen habe um zu testen ob die Abstossung von Neodym-Magneten praktisch genutzt werden kann um einen magnetischen Stossdämpfer, oder eine magnetische kontaktfreie Feder, zu bauen den man als Dämpfungsfuß für 3D-Drucker nutzen kann. Funktioniert das? Die Antwort ist "Ja, aber"... Dieser Dämpfer benutzt 10 Neodym Scheibenmagnete mit je 10x2 mm, aufgeteilt in einen Stapel mit 5 Magneten im oberen und unteren teil des Dämpfers (also ca. zwei 10x10 mm Neodym Magnete). Mit ca. 1,6 kg Gewicht auf dem Dämpfer geht er "auf den Block" (die Magnete berühren sich), das tatsächlich nutzbare GEwicht, damit noch etwas "Federweg" übrig bleibt ist aber eher 1 kg maximal. Um die Rund 9 kg eines Ender 3 mit Filament-Spule mit diesen MAgnet-Dämpfern zum schweben zu bekommen bräuchte man also mindestens 10 dieser Dämpfer (und damit 20 10x10mm Neodym-Magnete, bzw. 100 10x2mm Discs), 5 auf jeder Seite des Druckers. Und natürlich sind die Dämpfer nicht komplett freischwebend (das ginge passiv nach dem Earnshaw-Theorem auch nicht), sondern die Führungsrohre berühren sich und können so auch Vibrationen übertragen Man kann die Dämpfer sicherlich optmieren (z.B. andere Tolleranzen und dann Filz um das innere Dämpfungsrohr zu wickeln um die Vibrationen wirkungsvoll zu dämpfen). Ich weiss nicht, ob ich das Konzept noch weiter verfolgen werde, aber jeder ist eingeladen diese Idee / Umsetzung weiter zu remixen oder zu optimieren. An und für sich ist eine Magnet-Feder, bzw. ein Magnet Dämpfer schon ein coole Sache... :-) Ich habe PLA für den Dämpfer benutzt, 15% Gyroid Infill und 0,2mm layer height. Support braucht man nicht. Die kleine Scheibe in den Thing-Dateien ist übrigens eine Sicherheit die auf die Magnete im Unterteil gelegt wird. Neodym-Magnete sind sehr spröde, wenn die Federung zu hart "auf den Block" geht und die Magnete aufeinanderprallen könnten sie brechen. Die Plasitikscheibe soll das direkte aufeinandertreffen verhindern und abdämpfen. -- Video: https://youtu.be/RDOK3TNfowQ
